Butternut (white walnut), a relative of Walnut, has warm color tones and notable but soft grain patterns. The smaller bowl was cored from the larger bowl, so the patterns match. These bowls were green (wet wood) turned and finished with a controlled drying process. The effect is a distinctive warping which adds to the aged patina impression.
